Suggestions for half-day tours
July 1st-Aug 15th: Staff on site for your pick-up of pre-booked rental bikes:
09.30-10.30 AM and 16.30-17.00/4.30-5.00 PM.
As we are not on site when there are no bikes booked for delivery, we need your booking:
- 12 hours before early pick-up
- 3 hours before afternoon pick-up
Rentals without prior reservation will be processed if we have time, and after those who pre-booked have been helped. As we operate a cashless business, we charge a handling fee when booking and paying on-site.

Explore pristine villages, sunbathing spots, nature reserves and the countryside outside Lysekil's conurbation. Assisted by the engine, you may keep up at the same pace as a fairly experienced cyclist on a regular bike. Best of all, you´ll gain stamina on the uphills and in headwinds. When using appropriate gears and minimum engine assistance you may ride up to 8 miles on one charge. Rent an electric bike for an early or late half day or a full day. (Due to the theft risk, we do not rent out the e-bikes overnight.) The e-bikes are booked and paid for online - no later than three hours before delivery. For late booking, same-day call to check availability. Please note the specified times for Pick-up. Deposit of keys or ID is required. TYPE OF BIKE Specialized Vado 3.0 or equivalent - suitable for gentle off-road riding, on grass, gravel and granite. 9 gears. (4 available). ECORIDE Ambassador is a 7-speed electric bike with a hub motor in the front wheel. Basket forward. Hydraulic handbrake, footbrake and lighting. Advantage: Low entry/step thru. Suitable for city traffic and dirt roads. Rent a gravel bike for fast and scenic long rides on asphalt, gravel and fine forest paths. With some cykling skills or great fitness, you can manage about 60-80 km in 5 hours. If someone in your group prefers to ride an electric-assisted bike to keep the same pace as the others, this will be possible to book at the same time. The gravel bikes are booked and paid for online - no later than 20.00 the night before. (We cannot guarantee that we will have time to fix after the previous rental if you book on the same day.) Choose between a morning or afternoon/evening or full day. We do not rent out gravel bikes overnight due to the risk of theft. Bicycle helmet included. Only manned PICK-UP at specified times - or book first and contact us, 12-24 hrs ahead, to determine a time for PICK-UP and deposit of keys or ID. Explore the town of Lysekil and its surroundings: "Skaftö runt", Lysehalvön, rock carvings and golf courses in Brastad, evening tour with track golf and swimming at Bastevik. See more tour suggestions below. Comfortable bikes with and without a basket, for quiet rides on asphalt and dirt roads. Bicycle helmets and child seats are booked separately. Family bike with space for two children under 8 years old and child seats available. However, we do not have children's and youth bicycles, as there are no continuous lanes of separated cycle paths in Lysekil. NB! Limited staffed pick up hours (The bike depot is mostly unmanned, except for the start and end of guided activities). ATTENTION! Limited availability of bicycles on certain days due to larger bookings, e.g. in connection with cruise calls July 23rd and 24th and august 30,31 and September 1st. SELF-GUIDED CYCLING
If you cross Gullmarn to the island of SKAFTÖ/SKAFTÖLANDET with the passenger ferry, flat terrain, car-free cycle paths and pedestrian/cycle paths await. Perfect for inexperienced cyclists and families with children.
Keep in mind that the passenger ferry across the Gullmarsfjord (from Lysekil to Östersidan/Fiskebäckskil on Skaftö island) has irregular departure times: Timetable, route 847 (please note that the summer timetable replaces the regular during mid-June to late August).

On the mainland, STÅNGENÄSET, we instead have a very varied nature, with slightly hilly terrain and country roads that are "adequately" challenging for anyone who doesn't cycle very often but is well used to cycling in traffic (ie not only on separated cycle lanes). There are many small paved roads and dirt roads, but in some passages, you have to go out onto Road 162, which has narrow or non-existent verges in some sections. (See below for tips for increased security)
SUGGESTED HALF DAY TOURS:
If you are not used to cycling and ride a regular bike 3 to 7-speed, your average speed will depend on how long and steep the hills are. Estimate about 10 km/h.
An untrained person may have an average speed of 15-20 km/h on an electric-assisted bicycle, which is a pretty good equivalent to the estimated effective cycling time in Google Maps.

SAFETY TIPS
Cycling (in groups) in town and on country roads
- Sidewalks are for walking. If you lead your bicycle on, or across the road, the regulations for pedestrians apply.
- The pedestrian and cycle lanes may be separated or mixed, in both directions. Watch for signs.
- Place the weakest cyclists in the group at the front.
- Stop, cross the road and lead the bike (on the left side of the road) up the steepest slopes.
- Do not drive too close to the edge of the road to have "wiggle room". It also discourages motorists from "squeezing" past cyclists.
- Make gaps between every 2nd-3rd cyclist. It makes it easier for motorists when overtaking.
- Give hand signals in good time so that other cyclists and road users have time to prepare for a stop or a turn.
- Be extra careful and attentive when turning left on a country road.

Limited availability of City bikes on certain days
We arrange guided bike tours for passengers from the cruise ships calling at Lysekil on July 24 and September 1.
On August 31, we arrange the Gullmarssimmet Open Water 2024 swim contest acress the fjord.
