Would you like to try paddling in one of the world’s most beautiful archipelagos?
According to a recent CNN Traveler listing, the seascapes around Lysekil and the Swedish West Coast are stunning. You can come along on a beginner-friendly trip in stable ocean kayaks.

Theme: City and Nature.
The guide will stop at regular intervals to let participants have a rest and to tell you about the surroundings. What you will see during a trip will vary due to the prevailing weather conditions. Normally this tour will run to Havsbadsparken and the guest harbour on the southern side of the peninsula. On the way, we pass the spectacular Stångehuvud Nature reserve with its mix of pristine nature and reminiscences of quarrying 100 years ago.

Option: Visit a small island
If the group wants we may instead head out into the archipelago to one of the islands. Maybe there is time for a quick jump from the cliffs. Just in case, bring your swim gear and a towel if you want to take a swim in the manner of the locals. The wind direction, speed, and wave amplitude will limit what is possible.

As the fairway around Stångehuvud is crowded and boat captains have been known to be reckless it's an advantage to go in a group. The guide will give you safety tips and talk about what you see during the trip. We are there to assist you in entering and alighting the stable twin kayaks, and to teach basic techniques and safety issues.

  • For families with children from 5-11 years, and participants with dogs, pls choose Family paddling.

Season: October-May, usually Fridays and Saturdays
Duration: 3 hours from gathering until we part, i.e. including security briefing, etc-
We spend a little more than an 2 hours in the kayak.
Landfall/break: Usually not, but there is time for a short walk ashore if someone needs to stretch their legs or want to take a swim.
Level: Novice/Beginner and intermediate
Guest requirements: Normal health; i.e. no known problems sitting still, e.g. circulation problems, etc.
Max 110kg and/or 200cm (Length and weight limited by dry suits and cockpit size and possible leg length.)
Children/Youths: Children/youths under 16 years only together with paying adults.
Children (5-9 years) must be accompanied by an adult/child.
Maximum 3 young people (10-15 years) together with at least one adult.
Dogs: Since we go close to the land, you can bring a dog on the boat. How much it costs depends on whether the dog can sit in the same cockpit as you, without hindering your ability to paddle.
A larger dog needs to have its own cockpit and must be so calm and obedient that it does not jump into the water out of fear or to hunt waterfowl.
You have to make your own judgment when making your reservation, but this is our definition:
Small dog, max 10-15 kg, which sits on your lap or in a boot.
Large dog, from approx. 15 kg, which sits/lies in its own cockpit.
Your dog has to wear its life jacket. You can swim 200 m and is strong enough to paddle alone with a larger dog in a tandem kayak.
We also have a kayak with room for a large dog and 1 adult, and 1 youth (10-15 years), alternatively 2 adults.
Included: Guide, paddle, life jacket, and canopy/spray deck.
Place in a stable tandem kayak (K2), shared with another participant. In case of an odd number of participants, one of the participants paddles with the guide.
Bring: Wind/waterproof jacket or fleece. (Check the weather forecast)
Water to stay hydrated (approx. 33-50 cl). The water bottle can be attached with elastic cords to the top of the kayak.
Waterproof bag, if you are going to bring your phone or camera.
What to wear: Sun hat/cap/buff. Sunglasses if needed.
Sunscreen SPF15 or higher (applied to the nose, cheeks, lips, nose, ears, and on top of hands at least 30 minutes BEFORE arrival) if needed.
(A long-sleeved shirt usually provides enough UV protection. Wet cotton will cool you down.)
Come changed, preferably in trousers s and a sweater in wool/synthetic/functional material.
Avoid sneakers and boots.
Better take sandals, semi-soft slippers, flip,-flops or even better: bathing shoes.
Rain/wind: We run the tour even if there is light fog or the risk of light showers.
In case of wind strength around 3-4 m/s, we make contact with registered participants the evening before the activity. Depending on wind direction and temperature, the tour may be canceled, but if possible we will change the day and/or starting location.

After a safety briefing, the guide will help you adjust the equipment. Once the kayaks are launched and everyone is ready, it's time for the basic paddling technique. When we return, everyone takes part in taking care of and rinsing kayaks and other equipment before we finish the day's activity.

When the weather permits we paddle at a leisurely pace towards Lysekil's southern Harbour, passing Kramkistan and Stångehuvud nature reserve. Would the participants like to go out into the archipelago instead, there may even be time for a quick bath.
